With our busy lives, and addiction to social media, its ABSOLUTELY necessary to get away every once in a while. Vacations are a great time to detox from life and the internet, while spending time with your loved ones, and most importantly, your SELF.
I find that if I dont spend some time away from the office, work, and especially social media, I lose my mind! I need time alone to remember who I am and what’s important without the day to day stuggles, anxieties, and distractions.
For the last year I havent really traveled anywhere fun, especially that was solely intended for fun and not work of some sort. Being that we are native Floridians and only 1.5 hours away from Orlando, we often will take a quick weekend trip to get out of town. Orlando of course is home to many theme parks, but there are a TON of things to do even if you dont hit up Disney and Universal.
We took a much needed weekend getaway and spent the weekend at The Wyndham Resort on International Drive, Orlando, Fl. The resort itself is sprawling, and dead center in the hustle and bustle of International Drive and Icon Park. Anything you want is a quick 5 minute walk away. The Resort itself is gorgeous, well groomed, and a peaceful bubble in what is otherwise chaotic International Drive.
Our first night there, I was exhausted from the longest day ever, so we ordered room service and it did not dissapoint! The Flat bread pizza and quesadillas are to die for, and the service was quick and timely!
Saturday was our only full day at the resort, so we spent the morning exploring the resort, grabbing coffee, and playing tourists. It just so happened that National Margarita Day was the same Saturday we were there, so we went to Gatorville for some AMAZING margaritas!
We explored the many sitting areas and walking bridges, and eventually found ourselves back at Gatorville for lunch. What can I say, this girl likes to eat?! We ordered gator bites, naturally we were obligated given the name of the restaurant. They were decent, but Gator is a little gamy for my liking. We also ordered a philly cheesesteak and nachos, and were super impressed with both options.
After we ate and ate until I was forced to unbotton my stretchy jeans, we headed back to the room for a quick nap before a night out. The Wyndham Resort was generous enough to give us tickets to The Wheel at Icon Park, so we headed over in the evening to ride it while it was lit up with lights. The line was short, and they give you the option to grab cocktails before you step onto your own personal little pod, which resembles a speaceship of sorts with 360 glass views. I should have had more cocktails! The views are stunning and its an amazing experience, but I didnt realize how scared of heights I was until you reach the top and no one else is above you. The views of Orlando are amazing, and if you focus on that you shouold be fine.
Once we reached the bottom, we headed out to Cafe Paris, a little Parisian restaurant, to meet my Brother and Sister in law who also happend to be in Orlando, Fl for the weekend. We hung out for a while, drank hot chocolate and beer, then grabbed take out from Shake Shack before we headed back to our hotel room.
Sunday we woke up early, explored a little more, and grabbed coffee before we hit the road and headed home. All in all, staying at the Wyndham Resort on International Drive in Orlando, Fl was an amazing experience! The staff were beyond friendly and accomodating, the room was immaculate and comfortable, and the Resort in itself was gorgeous, relaxing and centrally located next to all of your favorite Orlando staples. I highly recommend staying here for your next weekend getaway or trip to Disney! You can save 20% off your next stay by booking throught THIS link!
