I love shopping, and that’s for anything at any given price point. I like to buy items that I can visualize in an outfit, whether it is from Target or a local thrift store to Nordys or designer purchases. It just has to make sense for me, which usually boils down to how much it costs, versus how many times I will use or wear it.
I talk a lot about which items I am willing to splurge on, like good denim, shoes, and handbags, but I don’t often share the stores I shop for trends of the Season or fast fashion.
Shein is a retailer known for having extremely inexpensive price points, and lots of trendy items of the moment. Right now, for example, you can find every sort of tie-dye, and any two-piece, romper, or dress you can dream of at a ridiculously low price point.
Recently I purchased a couple of items from Shein for the first time, and I wanted to share my thoughts and review with you!
The first thing to mention is shipping is quite literally the slowww boat from China. You have the option to pay $12.99 for express shipping, which is anticipated at 2 weeks rather than 4. Also, I think it’s worth noting that this purchase was made during the COVID craziness, so delayed shipping was to be expected. However, after getting used to that Amazon prime life, 2 weeks is an eternity!
The items are all just like the images, but they do tend to run small. I would most definitely size up in any top or swimwear you purchase. I normally would be a 6, or M, but I bought a large in everything I ordered.
The quality is decent, depending on what you purchase. The white eyelet top I bought is actually beautifully detailed for $17. The black gingham peplum top is also decent material, and seems to be of nicer quality than some of the other tops. It was seriously $8!
The tank tops are thin and a little short for my torso (I’m 5’6,) but I bought them to wear underneath other tops so it wasn’t a big concern for me.
The kimono top is very lightweight, though not necessarily the finest quality materials. However, given how many times I anticipate wearing it, it’s perfect. The sheer polka dot top is pretty much just that, a sheer polka dot top. I paired this with one of the tanks underneath it, and high waisted black denim.
I also purchased a bikini, and this is where you DEFINITELY want to make sure you sized up. They run reallll small, but, it is a bikini after all. For $10, it was well below the cost of other tie-dye bikinis and it was totally worth it.
Overall given the cost of what I spent, and how many tops and outfits I got out of it, I felt Shein was great for exactly what they are; cute, inexpensive, items of the Season. I wouldn’t buy any closet staples here per se, but it was worth what I paid.
Have you ever purchased from Shein? Where do you shop for your trendy clothes that don’t break the bank?
